Clinical Negligence

Every year many patients are the unfortunate victims of negligent care and/or treatment from a doctor or nurse at an NHS or private hospital.

If you believe that your treatment or the treatment of a family member or friend from a GP, NHS Hospital, private Hospital or private Consultant was negligent, then you may have a claim against the individual or the NHS Trust. Most of the individuals and certainly the Trusts will have insurance to protect them so it will be their insurance company who negotiates and pays out any compensation and not the individual doctor or nurse.

There are very strict time limits within which any claim must be pursued. Generally it is within 3 years of the date that you know or ought to know that you have suffered an injury as a result of negligent care and/or treatment. There are a few limited exceptions where that time limit does not apply.
